Orchestra Nova (now in our 25th year) is presenting our April 2016 concert “Variations” on 17th April 2016 at the Lake Macquarie Performing Arts Centre at Warners Bay at 2:00pm.
The Orchestra will be conducted by Robin Fischle, a highly experienced musician who has served the Hunter cultural community with excellence, and Andrew Hermon a young local freelance musician and tutor, stage manager and orchestral conductor.
The program includes:
St Anthony Variations – by Brahms
Clarinet Concerto in BƄ Major – by Mercadante
Rustic Wedding Symphony - by Goldmark
Our clarinet soloist, Clare Gibbons, is a highly acclaimed soloist and teacher from Newcastle. Clare graduated from The University of Newcastle Conservatorium in 2009 with a Bachelor of Music and was awarded the Newton-John Memorial Prize for outstanding results in both academic and performance subjects. Clare now works as a Clarinet teacher in public and private schools as well as at her own teaching studio and performs regularly with local groups such as the Lake Macquarie Philharmonic Orchestra, The University of Newcastle Wind Orchestra, Orchestra Nova and the New Empire Ballroom Dance and Ragtime Orchestra . Clare frequently makes appearances in local musical production orchestras, such the recently performed “Evita” with the The National Theatre Company.
We offer the people of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie a varied program of music in this “Variations” concert that we trust our audience will enjoy.
